BIOGRAPHY

Bruce Marshall - singer, songwriter, plays dobro, electric and acoustic guitars. His infectious energy on stage sets the tone, while his charisma is felt by the audience at every live show. Bruce favors a melodic style of acoustic and electric lead guitar rarely heard today, and also played on his beautiful trademark silver steel body dobro. Bruce Marshall has been writing and recording his original songs for 37 years. He started playing guitar when he was 13 years old in 1967.

His band, The Bruce Marshall Group, was formed in 1991 and has been recording, delighting crowds and getting rave reviews. Bruce was on the road for most of the 1980's with "Bruce Marshall and the Clue", a very popular Boston based band. In the early 1990's, Bruce formed an acoustic duo with his old friend and Blues Harp Legend James Montgomery calling themselves "Montgomery and Marshall". Together they released two live CD’s. In April 2010 their duo performed in Maine, and were joined by a special guest Jonathan Edwards.

At live shows the Bruce Marshall Group treat their dancing and listening fans to a soaring ride as the band rips through Bruce's large collection of original material, as well as playing familiar cover tunes, this variety truly sets his band apart.

The band loves to mix it up, whether it’s pulling off exciting jams that build with dynamics and layering, or playing the concise arrangements of their songs, slipping seamlessly through Blues, Rhythm and Blues (R&B), Country and Southern Rock Boogie.

The Bruce Marshall Group has performed with "The Beach Boys" five times, including a 4th of July show at Otis Air Force Base that drew over 70,000 people (one of the largest concerts ever held in Cape Cod), and at Holman Stadium in Nashua, NH. It was also a kickoff for the National Guard's 200th anniversary.

The Bruce Marshall Group performed at the 2010 Boston Marathon Finish Line Festival, doing an all-day Live Radio Broadcast on WZLX FM, Boston's Classic Rock Station. This new free annual festival is held at The Shops at Prudential Center’s Boylston Street Plaza. The band was a smash hit and have already been invited back to perform again in 2011 !!!

The Bruce Marshall Group consists of Bruce Marshall and:

Dave Cournoyer - guitarist and singer, he joined the group in 1995. Formerly with The Shittons, The Vex, and The Rubies. Dave has earned a reputation for coaxing seemingly impossible sounds from his electric guitar. Totally at ease with over the top solos or sweet subtle lines, he builds his solos from a whisper to a scream. He has a gift for creating just the right parts for the original material. Dave is the group’s "secret weapon". He’s taken his slide guitar work to another level.

Andrew Renaultr - provides the rock steady rhythm on bass. He has the rare ability to play with restraint and understatement while driving the band. A consummate professional, he creates the perfect bass lines for the original songs, totally at ease with swing, shuffles, he truly enjoys playing music and conveys that on stage.

Pete Premo - has been playing drums for over 30 years. He began studying the rudiments and reading music at the age of 10 and began formal classical percussion training at 15. At age 19 he attended Berklee College of Music where he majored in Percussion and Audio Recording. He also earned a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering. Pete has vast experience playing a wide variety of musical genres from jazz, to classical, to blues and rock. Some of his prior gigs were with Tornado Alley, The Blind Tiger Swing Posse, The Cliph Band, Affirmation, Blues Food, Chet Williamson, and Big Town Blues.

John Donahoe - adds color and texture to the group on tenor sax, fiddle, and mandolin. John joined the group in 1999, formerly with The Cliph Band. His supporting lines and blistering solos are a major part of the excitement of the live show and helps define the group’s unique sound. His sax work really sells the blues/r&b material and fiddle is great in the country/blues numbers. Watch the crowd’s reaction as he lays down one of his smokin’ sax solos and then picks up the fiddle and proceeds to blow the roof off the joint! The mandolin is a nice touch and meshes beautifully with guitar and Dobro. John also sings backup vocals.

Plus other special guest musicians.
